We all strive to make better choices. In an ideal world, nothing would prevent us from making them.
There is a clear best choice for those who continue to smoke: quit tobacco and nicotine altogether. But the reality is, many don’t. For those adults who don’t quit, advances in science and technology have led to the development of smoke-free alternatives, such as heated tobacco products, e-cigarettes and oral smokeless products.
However, their ability to choose a better alternative can vary depending on factors like geographic location, regulatory environment, and ability to access alternatives and accurate information about them.
Governments and regulatory bodies play an important role in ensuring that individuals have access to and accurate information about scientifically substantiated smoke-free products.
For us to end smoking for good, all adult smokers, no matter where they are or what they do, should have the right to choose a better option.
